About the Show

Who do you watch? There’s a myriad of TV talk shows aimed at appealing to almost everybody, right? Not quite. Today, issues affecting the gay community are little more than a footnote in mainstream media. That’s why Dennis Talk Revolution is making television history with the first talk show for gays and lesbians. What better way to change public opinion than by giving a voice to those with a legitimate stake in issues affecting the LGBT community? There’s a lot to talk about. Here’s a sneak peak at a few topics we’ll cover.

God and Gays

Does God determine our sexual orientation? For centuries religious zealots have preached scorn for those considered “sexual deviants”. Only recently has this issue become a relevant part of modern debate. Whether God condemns, forgives, or embraces the gay community, we’ll cover the arc of this topic from an array of guests. Will the emerging science behind human sexuality estrange or reconcile us with religious faith?

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

If a “moral waiver” allows even felons to enlist in the U.S. Army, why are dedicated men and women refused or discharged simply for being gay? The short answer, of course, is that sexual orientation must not be a “moral” issue after all. Or is it? If you’re having a problem deciding, don’t be discouraged; the U.S. government has had an awful time deciding as well. This is what prompted the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy for gays in the military. While the name is supposed to connote neutrality, this policy has no doubt been of great folly to our armed forces’ supply of qualified men and women. We plan on hearing from veterans directly affected by this policy. In light of their experiences, perhaps we’ll find that “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” reflects the familiar, sinister overtone of “Separate but Equal”.

Gay Marriage

Are “Civil Unions” the answer to the growing demand for marriage rights for gay Americans? Is the sanctity of marriage at stake? By defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman, one must also consider the origins of this ceremony. For centuries marriage was an economic arrangement where women were “given away” as property. But in the modern age of romantic relationships on equal terms, why are we not more open to changing the way we define marriage? Is the difference between “marriage” and “Civil Union” really a question of semantics, or is this yet another subversive form of bigotry? We’ll hear from those left out of this sacred, and apparently exclusive, institution.

Gay Adoption

Hear from children and the gay and lesbian adults who care for them when we tackle the age-old question: “What makes a good parent?” In an age of broken families and absentee parenting, what could be better than a household with two loving adults present? There’s no shortage of children needing stable, safe homes. Witness the roadblocks and heartache when you meet some gay Americans who are able and willing to make a positive contribution to a child’s wellbeing.

Relations Among the Sexes

Do same-sex relationships stand the test of time? What factors feed the perception of promiscuity among homosexuals, and more importantly, is there any truth to it? We’ll seek out the personal stories behind the statistics. How do gender roles and other social factors make or break gay and lesbian relationships? See how personality is only one factor in the universal need for compatibility.
